Futuristic Playground
Our theme pack was based on a modernist and futuristic design concept, aiming to create playgrounds that offer a luxurious and inclusive experience for children, young adults, and even adults. The proposed site was Royal Park, chosen for its central inner-city location and accessibility from Southbank, the CBD, and surrounding suburbs. The design emphasised the use of sustainable, high-end materials such as timber, aluminium, and glass, which are environmentally friendly and recyclable.
The Design
This was a team project where my classmate and I designed a futuristic playground concept. The playground includes several unique features such as viewing platforms for enjoying the scenery, dining areas, slides, and large spherical structures that people can sit inside and roll around in, similar to how hamsters play.
The design is highly imaginative and experimental, exploring what playgrounds of the future might look like. We used robust materials such as wood, metal, and glass to achieve a bold, industrial look. The facilities were intentionally scaled to be enjoyable for both children and adults, encouraging shared play and interaction across ages.
